WINNER: Alex Monroe – Oceans
Diving into the deep, Alex Monroe unlocked a winning formula when creating the Oceans collection for SS19. The British designer brand has long been loved for its nature motifs and adding an array of sea creatures to its portfolio proved a popular move with both consumers and retailers alike, which is why it is no small wonder Oceans scooped the Silver Jewellery Collections of the Year crown with just over a quarter of the votes. Born from increasing environmental concerns, Oceans celebrates the beauty and majesty that dwells within our planet’s seas. The line elegantly explores an underwater world of endangered, fascinating and much-loved creatures, with animals in the range including whales, starfish, stingrays and turtles — with the latter being in hot demand throughout the summer! The collection also highlights the fragility of our precious ecosystems, and helped raise money for the brand’s charity partner for the year Friends of the Earth. Pieces in the collection were crafted in sterling silver, with designs also available with 18ct gold plate. Due to the success of the line, Alex Monroe also went on to introduce a fine jewellery Oceans line.
ChloBo – Cosmic Connection
The stars aligned for British jewellery brand ChloBo when it launched the Cosmic Connection for AW19. The brand has been going from strength-to-strength this year, with more and more retailers taking on its easy-to-wear designs. New collections have been performing extremely well, with many commending Cosmic Connection for strong sell-through. The line, which launched at the end of summer, takes inspiration from a deck of affirmation cards. Every product within the range links to an affirmation, allowing consumers to find a piece that resonates with them. Not only does Cosmic Connection offer brand new charms, designs and layering bracelets, consumers are also able to invest in the line further by buying a unique deck of affirmation cards. Iolite is the semi-precious stone that sits at the core of this collection, with properties that are said to help people shield away negativity and allow them to view all situations, people and feelings with clarity and truth.
Georg Jensen – Mercy
Highlighting the quality of compassion and serving as an emotional reminder for the wearer, Georg Jensen’s Mercy collection was designed by American jewellery designer, Jacqueline Rabun, who has worked with the brand for almost twenty years. Following the successful relaunch of the Offspring collection in 2018, Georg Jensen wanted to capitalise on the momentum with a new line in close collaboration with the designer. Mercy has been a long-time in the making, with Rabun continually developing and refining it over the past 15 years. Striking yet timeless, the jewellery merges Rabun’s fluid design language with Georg Jensen’s sculptural and organic design DNA. Each piece in the collection reflects a natural, fluid shape and complements the human form, with a vision for the jewellery to simply become a natural extension of the wearer’s body and spirit. The 15-piece line comprises contemporary range of bangles, rings, pendants, earrings and a neck ring crafted in sterling silver.
Kit Heath Jewellery – Empire
Perhaps Kit Heath’s strongest storyline so far, the Empire collection takes the drama of Art Deco design and gives it a thoroughly contemporary and imaginative makeover. The result is a range of sleek geometric forms and polished surfaces designed for the confident Kit Heath woman. With a dramatic inspiration, Empire is bold and evocative, offering statement pieces alongside styles which are made for layering. Empire is now Kit Heath’s best-selling launch to date, with early sales up by 25%. Sales have been soaring on both sides of the Atlantic, with the US tracking 361% up YOY across the board. At key price-points, the new collection boasts an average price of RRP £80 with a strong focus on personalisation.
Sif Jakobs Jewellery – Candy Colours
Award-winning fashion brand, Sif Jakobs Jewellery, further extended its colourful offering this year, with its Candy Colours collection becoming the bestselling range of 2019. Introduced to the UK market at Jewellery & Watch in Birmingham, the brand’s Candy Colours was an instant hit with British jewellers. The collection is super simple and easy to wear and also easy to sell as the price range takes the lower price segment into consideration. Candy Colours consists of large, medium, small and petite hoops, as well as coloured bangles and sleek rings in full colours, yellow, rose, pink and ruby red. Minimal and sleek, this line is very Scandinavian-cool and brightens up the British consumers wardrobe. Several times the collection sold out in stores showing how a splash of colour can go a long way.
