One of Jersey’s oldest retailers, Pearce Jewellers, will be closing down at the end of the year as the owners head into retirement.
The independent jewellery retailer has been trading on island for 110 years. During this time, four generations of the Peace family have lived and worked in the property located on the corner of King Street and Peirson Place.
Pearce Jewellers was founded in 1909 by Herbert James Le Breton Pearce.
It is currently run by managing director Jane Pearce, with the support of her husband, and former boss, Peter, who attempted to retire ten years ago but is still heavily involved in the business.
The couple announced on social media that the store will close at the end of 2019 due to retirement.
Following the announcement, which revealed a 25% retirement sales has now started in store, comments came flooding in from customers expressing their thanks to the family for many years of great service.
