Davand Jewellery owners blown away as local community rallies round.

The owners of Davand Jewellery have been showered with support and gifts from the local community following a sledgehammer attack on their store in Smethwick, just outside Birmingham.

The shop was raided by a gang in December when 17 trays of gold jewellery was stolen, a security door was smashed through and cabinets were destroyed. The vicious attack was captured on CCTV, which you can see in the video below.

In the aftermath of the attack Davand Jewellery owners David and Linda Nicholls said that they were blown away by the support that the local community have given them. Customers have gifted the pair chocolates and items to help get them back in business, and one customer even gave the Nicholls a £50 note in a Christmas card. The Nicholls said they will donate the money to charity as they could not track own the customer to return the cash.

Local business leaders have also pledged their support to help Davand Jewellery get back on its feet.

David Nicholls told local newspaper the Express and Star: “We have always lived by the motto that some good comes from every situation and that has certainly been the case here. People have been coming in and asking us how we are doing. It has been wonderful.”
