The De Beers Group today (May 24) announced the value of rough diamond sales for the fourth cycle of 2016.

The provisional sales values for cycle 4, which include global sightholder sales and auction sales, is $630 million (£434 million). This figure represents sales as of 23 May 2016, and is $36 million lower than the actual third cycle sales value of 2016, which was $666 million (£459 million).

Philippe Mellier, chief executive of De Beers Group, comments:  “As normal season trends return to the market, we are encouraged by the continued stability of demand for rough diamonds shown in the fourth cycle of 2016.”
