De Beers Group has revealed a list of goals for the coming decade, through which it plans to become a more ethical and sustainable company.
The goals include becoming carbon neutral, introducing complete gender parity, and offering support to at least 10,000 women entrepreneurs across its many diamond-producing partner countries.
The 12 new goals are part of De Beers Group’s ‘Building Forever’ initiative.
The goals are based around four pillars: leading ethical practices across industry; partnering for
thriving communities; protecting the natural world; and accelerating equal opportunity.
In the third pillar, in addition to being carbon neutral, it also aims to reduce its water footprint by 50% and achieve a net positive impact on biodiversity.
Furthermore, as well as supporting 10,000 women entrepreneurs around the world, the company hopes to help educate 10,000 girls in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects.
