London event allows couples to meet designers in quick-fire format.
A new concept to partner recently-engaged couples with their perfect engagement ring designer will launch in London next month, dubbed Speed Date a Designer.
The event will allow couples to sit for six minutes with each independent designer to discuss potential ring ideas, stones, metals and inspirations.
Described as "big, bold and never been done before", the Speed Date a Designer event aims to stop customers wandering high street in search of the perfect ring, to instead meet with designers face-to-face.
A statement from the event organiser F&L Designer Guides says: "On November 10 at The Fable Bar in London we will be fusing the whirlwind experience of a traditional speed date event together with a delightful twist making it possible for engagement ring shoppers to meet, talk to, and get inspired by a wonderful mix of interesting, creative, friendly and talented engagement ring designers."
Among the designers taking part in the first event are Amanda Mansell, Shivani Patel, Ornella Iannuzzi. Jessica Poole, Andrew English, Jon Dibben, Farah Quereshi, Beth Gilmour and Christopher Anderson.
The speed dating idea seeks to "help couples find the perfect independent designer to design the perfect engagement ring for your perfect partner". Tickets to attend cost £6 and include a free cocktail, with 30 places available.
The concept aims to be the very first event of its kind, with F&L stating that many of the designers involved are keen to make it a success and regular event.
Its debut on November 10 will act as a springboard to host a number of additional Speed Date a Designer events next year in and around London, with F&L planning to expand into other parts of the UK in order to promote “going bespoke”.
F&L adds that the approach is to make buying an engagement ring a fun, more creative and more imaginative alternative to shopping on the high street.
F&L Designer Guides is the brainchild of Frank Orman and Laura Bolick. They aim to bring designers and couples together, using the main F&L Designers Guide site to showcase the inspirations, ideas and advice that makes each designer unique. They work with independents including Andrew Geoghegan, Alexis Dove, Jana Reinhardt, Jon Dibben and Beth Gilmour.
