This will be Drakes’ first major renovation since its move to Drake Circus Shopping Centre in October 2006. It is expected to take 15 weeks to complete.

Drake Group’s Swarovski store will also be incorporated into the new Drakes stores after eight years on New George Street, Plymouth.

Drakes co-director, Monique Hirshman, commented: “We have welcomed customers to Drakes for over 60 years and are incredibly proud of our heritage. This project marks the start of an exciting chapter for Drakes and most importantly for our loyal customers. On today’s high street your offering has to be exceptional; you have to deliver an experience that customers will want to enjoy time and time again. The new Drakes store promises to be something really special”.

Drakes’ Swarovski store will close on June 29 and will reopen on July 7 as a temporary store on New George Street. This will offer condensed collections, such as engagement rings, wedding rings and various brands.

Drakes co-director Andrew Hirshman, added: “We would like to thank everyone for their patience during this exciting time and we are confident that you will consider the final results entirely worth the wait. We cannot wait to welcome you in to the new store”.
