The London Magazine awards celebrate best of independent retail.
Independent London retailer EC One scooped the award for Best Women’s Store at The London Magazine’s Great Little Shop Awards last night, a celebration of the capital’s best independent shops.
The awards took place at London’s Burlington Arcade to celebrate the independent status of the nominated shops. EC One was presented with its prize by Belle Robinson, co-owner of Jigsaw.
The retailer is said to have beaten off competition from the likes of London’s trend mecca Dover Street Market and popular shoe brand Charlotte Olympia.
Jos Skeates, founder of EC One said: “We are thrilled to announce that EC One was honoured again last night by being awarded The Best Women’s Store at The London’ Magazine’s awards.
“When so much of the high street comprises of homogenised brands, phone shops and coffee chains it is great to be recognised for sticking our necks out and trying to offer something different. This award adds the finishing touch to what has been a remarkable year. Things like this give all of us a boost in these difficult trading times”.
EC One was named a Retail Star in Professional Jeweller’s Hot 100 for the second year running. It also scooped the prize for Best Boutique Retailer at the UK Jewellery Awards this year.
Jos and Alison Skeates founded EC One in 1997 and are said to have helped launch brands such as Alex Monroe and Monica Vinader to the masses. At present the couple operate two stores in London and sell jewellery by around 40 different designers from the UK and overseas.
