Creative director steps down from brand to pursue new venture.

Elizabeth Galton has stepped down from her position as creative director at Links of London to pursue a new business venture.

The jewellery visionary is keeping tight lipped for now about her new project but has said that it will be a new jewellery brand that she is developing with a partner.

Galton attended Professional Jeweller’s first round table event this week, which was held at The Hospital Club in London in association with QVC. During the event she told Professional Jeweller that she felt that the time was right for her to make the break from Links of London.

It is not yet clear who will take over as creative director at Links of London following Galton’s departure. Links of London was unavailable for comment.

Galton joined Links of London in June 2008 following the departure of founder, and the original creative force behind the brand, Annoushka Ducas.

Before joining Links of London Galton had her own successful jewellery brand. In 2005 the designer secured £110,000 investment through TV show Dragons’ Den and went on to secure another £500,000 investment from two Jersey-based entrepreneurs, which she used to build her brand.

The designer also runs a consultancy business and has previously worked on projects for Cool Diamonds, QVC, Swarovski, Mercedes, Harvey Nichols and Liberty.

Galton was nominated for Jewellery Designer of the Year at the 2006 and 2007 UK Jewellery Awards and picked up press coverage and stockists all over the globe. This year she was featured in Who’s Who Britain’s Young Business Elite 2010 and in 2009 she was named in Vanity Fair’s Power List as one of the top 50 players in the luxury jewellery industry.
