Designer creates downscaled silver pieces at “gifting” price points.
Designer and Professional Jeweller Hot 100 NexGem Elizabeth Humble has unveiled a new collection of silver and gold vermeil jewellery designed to have lower entry-level price points and more commercial appeal.
The new range is Humble’s third seasonal collection and continues her reference to the natural landscapes of Scotland, this time with a focus on the lowlands.
The collection includes silver pendants with an RRP of £96, studs and half-metal, half-stone bracelets that combine green amethysts and pink tourmalines with silver and gold vermeil.
Humble said: “I wanted a nice entry-level price point for people to build on at a later date so I have created some items to fit with a gifting price point of around £100.
“It has been a challenge to keep the look of my jewellery but maintain a lower price point but there are also some hero pieces that retail at almost £800.”
Humble has received some help and advice from online jewellery retailer Astley Clarke, with whom she won a mentoring scheme in 2010. The company is said to have advised her with downscaling her collections, while also giving her guidance on key price points and design.
Offline, Humble sells the majority of her jewellery though gallery spaces, owing to her past, more large-scale collections, but this year says she will be pushing to exhibit more around the country and possible to more jewellery retailers. Her new collection will be ready from late June; Astley Clarke has already viewed it and selected items for the new season.
At present Humble works alone designing and making her collections. Last year she scooped the One Year On prize at New Designers in London, and was awarded the Goldsmiths’ Company award for jewellery at the same graduate show in 2010.
