Due to the success of the inaugural Ethical Gem Fair earlier this year, the trade event will be returning to London next month.

A collaborative partnership between three of the UK’s leading ethically sourced gemstone suppliers – Stuart Pool (Nineteen48), Kathy Chappell (Fair Trade Gemstones) and Ian Bone (Capricorn Gems-Queensland, Australia), the Ethical Gem Fair launched in March 2018 and has proven a popular event in the industry’s calendar.

From the first show, the trio realised there is a real thirst for ethical gemstones in the UK jewellery industry, and has since gone on to successfully showcase in Scotland as well.

Now, the fair will be back in London for two days before International Jewellery London, and will include presentations from each supplier, alongside the opportunity to buy gemstones that offer full provenance.

“The first fair earlier this year was a real eye opener for us and demonstrated that UK and European designers have a growing appetite for gemstones that have full provenance and are mined ethically and responsibly,” shares Ethical Gem Fair co-founder, Stuart Pool. “Moreover we also want to share our story about how our gemstones are mined and processed as well as working with our designer friends to take these stories to their customers and clients that is why we are having a series of short presentations on the first day of the show.”

Designers can be assured that every stone available at the show has been sourced responsibly.

Gemstones set to be at the fair include a wide range of sapphires, rubies, opals, diamonds, tanzanite, tourmaline, zircon, aquamarine and chrysoprase. These gems come from traceable sources in Sri Lanka, Australia, Malawi, Tanzania and the USA. Other gems from these locations will also be available to buy.

The Ethical Gem Fair is being held at the Novotel London West (Hammersmith), on August 31 – September 1 2018.

Booking for the event will be via an Eventbrite page which will be online by the end of July.
