Wholesale division to assist buyers and sellers in global marketplace.

Etsy has announced the official launch of its new Wholesale service, giving sellers more opportunities to grow their businesses and retailers a more convenient way to source products from small designers.

Members will be asked to pay a $100 (£60) one-time joining fee upon acceptance and Etsy will then collect a 3.5% transaction fee for wholesale purchase orders.

Previously in a testing beta stage, Etsy Wholesale received feedback from sellers and buyers ensuring it was as user-friendly as possible ahead of the full roll-out. Testing also focused on achieving seamless integration between Etsy.com and Etsy Wholesale.

The Etsy Wholesale marketplace also supports a curated selection of unique products made by trusted designers for independent boutiques to source conveniently and with low overheads.

Founder of Mockingbird Domestics boutique in Austin, Texas, Laura Daly, commented: “Usually the expenses associated with going to a showroom keep out the smaller, unknown, independent designers — Etsy Wholesale makes it simple and cost effective to source fresh products all the time.”

Currently, Etsy Wholesale is participating in New York-based home and lifestyle event NY NOW, in order to show off the new site and support wholesale sellers who participated in the beta testing phase.

Additionally, Etsy will support Small Business Saturday (December 6 2014 in the UK), by encouraging retailers to source product from local Etsy sellers.
