The upcoming Jewellery Show, set to take place in London’s ExCeL Centre 5-6 September 2022, has added a big industry name to its senior staff.

Cathie Osborne is founder of B2B marketplace Retaissance.

She has now joined the Jewellery Show team (with CloserStill Media as show organiser) as committee member.

Here she tells PJ what it’s like to be aboard and what to expect from the show…

Why did you want to become involved with the Jewellery Show?
For more than two years, the UK has been without a major global showcase of our incredible jewellery industry. We have great buying group events, with CMJ and Houlden, as well as smaller showcases.

However, I do believe that we have an incredible industry that benefits from coming together, one that can benefit from standing together on a global scale.

To me, the Jewellery Show will act as the driving force behind the recovery of international business for a sector which, in the UK and Ireland employs 9,435 people and generates exports amounting to around £3.3 billion.

There has never been a more important time for the UK jewellery community to come together!

What should we expect?
Quality exhibitors and buyers are expecting more from a trade show than ever before.

The Jewellery Show will offer educational workshops, product and trends discovery, tailored meet-the-buyer slots, networking and special events to add unique value to all attendees.

Knowledge and thought leadership will come from our own incredible home-grown talent as well as other industries and countries – providing outstanding learning and collaborations with speakers who excite, inspire and generate enthusiasm.

We are keen to talk to retailers, brands and service providers who are interested in sharing their stories to benefit their community.

We are particularly interested in positive changes to businesses that have had great results, whether that be store refits, e-commerce, customer relationships, advertising, new designs, new brands – the list is endless!

The Jewellery Show will be where the British jewellery industry gathers to collaborate, buy, sell, network and celebrate our heritage, craftmanship and design on a global stage.

What are you most looking forward to?
It’s difficult to narrow down. I think the hosted meetings are a big addition, global buyers define their current product requirements and explain any required services; the Jewellery Show turns those interests and potential opportunities into 1:1, in-person meetings.

Exhibitors have well-matched meetings in a relaxed environment, providing incredible opportunity to build relationships, gain feedback and take orders.

I am also a big fan of the press room where brands can meet the trade media, PR agencies and influencer management companies share stories and learn from each other.
