CL Edwards is a family run company.

Management buyout will allow family to build on new and core lines

Jewellery wholesaler CL Edwards & Sons has completed a management buyout that has separated it from former parent company Signet Group.

The family management team behind CL Edwards – Allen Edwards, his son David, daughters Janet and Carol, along with Craig Skinner – now own the company.

In a statement, the new owners said: “The new revitalised family-run company will continue to focus on a quality product, at a quality price, specifically targeted at the mainstream independent retail jeweller and not forgetting, market-leading service and support.

“The management team and staff would like to thank our customers for their continued support and we look forward to talking to customers old and new about this exciting news and the new direction the company will be taking.”

The family said that it is planning to expand the Rocio Illumini brand that it launched at Spring Fair in 2009, as well as new brand New Exquisite. However, the company said that it will not forget its roots, and will also focus on enhancing its core range of jewellery. New lines will be debuted at trade show International Jewellery London in September.

CL Edwards was founded in 1956 and was one of the first UK jewellery companies to source directly from the Far East.
