Auction house moves 18 members of staff to Frederick Street building.

Birmingham auction house Fellows has expanded its headquarters in the city’s Jewellery Quarter, moving members of its watch, silver, photography and marketing teams to a new space on Frederick Street.

Fellows, which hosts weekly auctions, said the move follows an "ambitious nine-month renovation project", with a Georgian town house and Victorian workshops converted as part of the expansion.

Fellows managing director Stephen Whittaker explains: "As Fellows continues to expand both the number of auctions it holds and the service it provides to its clients, we needed to expand our office accommodation for some of our specialist departments, including our photographic team."

The new space features a mezzanine where the watch department is based, cataloguing and photographing more than 7,000 watches offered for sale each year by Fellows. It also includes darkrooms for processing its imagery, and plenty of natural light thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows.

Whittaker added: "An imaginative design has produced a spectacular interior for our staff whilst setting a standard externally for other buildings that are being renovated in this important conservation area."
