Fellows Auctioneers has partnered with a forensic jewellery expert to host an insightful webinar later this month.

Taking place on June 24, the webinar will be given by Dr Maria Maclennan Ph.D. and hosted by Fellows Auctioneers via Zoom.

The event will focus on the ways in which jewellery can assist investigations with human identification in the case of death, crime and disaster.

Currently a Lecturer in Jewellery and Silversmithing at Edinburgh College of Art, Dr Maria Maclennan is an interdisciplinary designer and researcher with a professional background in both jewellery and forensics. She has worked alongside a number of high-profile organisations internationally across academia and law enforcement, deploying across the globe to help identify jewellery recovered after mass fatalities.

Dr Maclennan’s webinar will be the second in a matter of weeks hosted by Fellows. In May, Fellows held a successful webinar featuring Architectural Historian and Consultant Oliver Gerrish.

Alexandra Whittaker, PR & communications manager at Fellows Auctioneers, who is behind the event, says: “We are excited to have Dr Maclennan host a fascinating, interactive webinar. Anyone who buys a ticket to this event is in for a huge treat. Dr Maclennan’s unique area research is utterly captivating. By exploring this rare and nuanced area of jewellery, she opens our eyes to the important role jewellery plays in people’s lives and their death.

“This is bound to be hugely popular with our customers. A lot of people have already bought tickets to the webinar and we expect many more to follow in the next week.”

Tickets are priced at £5, and can be purchased from Fellows.
