Forum Jewellers of Broadstone raised money for local charity Julia’s House during a competition run throughout the Valentine’s season.
The jewellers raised a total of £957.97 through a competition entitled Love Lock.
When Forum Jewellers sat down to plan Valentines 2016 they wanted to do something romantic. Turning its focus in the Love Lock Bridge in Paris, Forum created a competition based on this romantic gesture.
Couple were given the chance to visit Forum Jewellers and symbolise their love by attaching a padlock to a Love Lock Bridge on the front of the store. The money for Julia’s House was raised by people purchasing their padlocks through making a donation to the charity.
The padlock key was then posted inside a Love Lock Letter Box and on Saturday February 13 2016 one lucky key was drawn. The winner, Samia Bristow, received a half carat loose diamond worth £1,200.
Helen Molloy from Forum comments: “We were very excited to do this romantic competition. Our main aim is to encourage people to visit Forum Jewellers for the first time and raise money for Julia’s House. We would like to thank Nuffield Engineering Suppliers for donating the padlocks and Balloon a Room Weddings for donating the letter box to support Julia’s House.”
Julia’s House, the Dorset and Wiltshire Children’s Hospices, exists to help life-limited children and their families, providing practical and emotional support, in their hospice and own homes. Julia’s House needs to raise £4.6million this year with just 6% of this coming from the government. For the rest of the income needed to run their service Julia’s House relies on the generosity of people and companies like Forum Jewellers.
