Frank Ocean ends public hiatus to release new jewellery range

American musician Frank Ocean has broken a two year media silence to give an interview about his new jewellery line, Homer.

The high and fine jewellery collection of 18k gold, recycled sterling silver and hand-painted enamel also comes with lab-grown diamonds, a press release stated.

A New York boutique for the Homer brand is set to open today with visits by appointment and walk-ins limited.

The jewellery will also be available to purchase online.

In an interview with the Financial Times he revealed that he was fascinated by luxury items like jewellery as a child because “it was the furthest thing from [his] actual life at the time”.

He also revealed that the collection has been three and a half years in the making.

On the reason behind the name Homer he quipped: “Mostly because it’s five letters and the dotcom was available, but also because Homer is considered the father of history and history is meant to endure – the same as diamonds and gold – and I know Homer used papyrus, but I’ve always liked the idea of carving history into stone.”

The release is accompanied by a magazine-style lookbook which can found on the Homer website.
