Aspiring designers asked to create pendant with surrealism theme.

The fifth edition of the Gem Privé jewellery design contest is now open for entries, and this time the theme is surrealism.

The competition has been designed as a way to bring a wider variety of design to fine jewellery, and offers entrants the chance to have their designs manufactured and receive royalties and recognition.

For the first time, the Gem Privé contest will accept 2D concept designs as well as 3D CAD designs in an attempt to create an even larger pool of entrants. As well as 10% royalties on any of their pieces that sell, the winner of the competition will also be awarded £100 and Gem Privé will exhibit their work in London this summer.

The brief for this leg of the contest is to design a pendant using rose gold, black pearls and blue sapphires that has been inspired by the art movement surrealism. The deadline for entries is February 23.
