Matrix jewellery software to feature in Academy’s new CAD/CAM course.
Gemvision, producers of Matrix jewellery design software, have partnered with London’s Holts Academy to feature the newest version of the technology in a new jewellery manufacturing course.
The latest version of Gemvision’s software was launched at International Jewellery London earlier this month. It will be used as part of the Industry Certified CAD Design qualification (ICCD), the first course in the UK to follow standards set by the industry and recognised qualification bodies, and leads to a Level 3 Diploma in Precious Metal CAD CAM.
Students will learn with Gemvision’s Matrix CAD package which has been designed specifically for the trade, allowing on-screen, dimensionally accurate design and substantially reducing the time taken from initial idea to final production.
Gemvision’s Europe managing director Gary Baines said: "Our technology is geared towards helping designers and retailers create innovative, desirable and profitable jewellery items, so working with the designers and manufacturers of tomorrow is very important for Gemvision.
“Enabling new jewellery designers to learn the latest CAD CAM techniques on market leading Matrix software under the auspices of the industry’s leading training provider means that manufacturers, retailers and customers can look forward to some stunning, original and inventive pieces in the months and years to come,” added Baines.
Lee Lucas, director of Holts Academy said: "After years of pioneering the development of qualifications for the jewellery sector I am delighted that we are able to lead the field for CAD CAM Qualifications. Holts Academy has worked with Gemvision Europe for five years and believes the company’s software – used by many of the jewellery world’s leading brand names – is the ideal partner for this ground-breaking training programme.”
Gemvision will also support the ICCD qualification with the provision of a prize at the bi-annual academy awards hosted by Holts Academy of Jewellery.
