The family-run jewellers has appointed Graham Bruce as general manager of its flagship Glasgow showroom.

The appointment marks the jewellers’ latest step towards unveiling a new luxury retail experience in the city.

Joining from Fraser Hart, Bruce brings 13 years of industry knowledge in establishing exemplary customer experience.

Bruce will return to his hometown of Glasgow for the professional move, where he began his career in the Argyll Arcade.

Working to challenge jewellery and retail experiences, Bruce will be responsible for preparing the jewellers’ team of experts for the grand opening of its new Rowan House showroom in Glasgow’s “style mile” in 2023.

The Rowan House redevelopment is part of a wider £10m investment by Laings to elevate and expand its showrooms throughout the UK, including its locations in Edinburgh, Cardiff, and Southampton.

Talking about Bruce’s appointment, Stuart McDowell, managing director at Laings, said: “Graham is a well-respected leader in the industry and we look forward to welcoming him to the Laings family.

“His background, skills and passion speak volumes, and I cannot think of anyone better to be at the helm of our flagship, delivering an unparalleled luxury experience.”

Graham Bruce added: “Having grown up and begun my career in Glasgow, I am familiar with Laings’ rich heritage.

“When I was younger, I often peered in the window to marvel at the stunning display of watches, and I always aspired to work with the prestigious brand.

“The opportunity to join the business at such a pivotal time is incredibly exciting and I am looking forward to a fantastic year ahead as we prepare to open the doors to our incredible new showroom in the heart of Glasgow City Centre.”

A wider recruitment programme will begin in the new year to appoint specialists into various roles, including watchmakers.
