Georg Jensen debuts collaborations with architect Zaha Hadid

Danish design house Georg Jensen will debut its latest collaboration at this year’s Baselworld: an innovative collection of jewellery, designed by globally renowned architect Zaha Hadid.

Created from sterling silver and black rhodium, then set with black diamonds, the collection will launch for retail in September.

Hadid says: “Working with Georg Jensen presented an opportunity to express our ideas in different scales and through different media. Our starting point was nature; there is an inherent integrity within the organic structural logic found in nature and we often look at the coherence of natural systems when we work to create environments. Our challenge was to translate that into something that can be worn and to reinterpret the rich history and tradition of Georg Jensen’s design approach into something new.”

In addition to her jewellery collection, Hadid was commissioned by Georg Jensen to design a site-specific architectural installation at the Baselworld show, which will serve as an inviting and relaxing lounge for visitors.

Chief executive officer of Georg Jensen, Eva-Lotta Sjöstedt, who joined the company in January, comments: “I grew up in Sweden, and I feel tremendously privileged to represent a Scandinavian design icon at Baselworld. Our heritage is one of collaboration and innovation, qualities found in our partnership with Zaha Hadid.”
