Emma-Louise Gregory is UK & Ireland sales director for prolific jewellery brand UNOde50.

Here she talks the shock of finding herself featured in PJ’s Power List and the joy of reading books with her young son.

How many years have you worked in the jewellery sector and how did you get into the industry?
For over 16 years. My first role was with Danish jewellery brand Dyrberg/Kern as the UK visual merchandiser. I would visit stores all over the UK to assist with jewellery displays and staff training. From there I progressed into a sales role.

What’s your most memorable moment in the industry to date?
Opening a copy of Professional Jeweller to find I had been nominated in 2019’s Power List under the Market Mover category. I felt really overwhelmed that my hard work had been recognised and it was a huge surprise.

What’s the most difficult part of your job?
Managing my workload. I wear several different hats and I must really focus my time. Plus, I spend a lot of my time driving which means I then lose time, so often end up working in the evenings.

What do you most enjoy about working in the industry?
The people! I feel so fortunate to be able to work with many successful and amazing retailers. I find that I am motivated by others and I love being able to talk to so many people.

I think we are a very close industry and I have many friends from other brands who I talk with regularly.

What’s the first thing you do when you get into work in the morning?
Work for me is getting into the car super early to head to my first store visit. I always listen to a motivational podcast from Tony Robbins which kickstarts my day in a positive way.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Going on little adventures with my six-year-old son, Jacob. I also love the outdoors, so hikes in the sunshine and surrounding myself with positive people.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Be kind to everyone you meet, and spread love and positivity wherever you go. I think it’s always good to leave a positive impression on others.

Tell us something about yourself that none of your colleagues know?
I was one of the top 30 UK contestants for the 2018 season of The Apprentice.

If you won the lottery, what one luxury item or experience would you buy?
I would open an UNOde50 franchise store!

If you could invite three people to a dinner party, who would they be?
Tony Robbins for his advice, Beyonce and Tom Hardy because… well, look at him.

Which other company or brand (inside or outside the industry) do you most admire and why?
The American hosiery brand Spanx. I love the story behind how the brand was started.

The founder, Sara Blakely, is highly focused and it amazed me how she used her $5k savings and made Spanx a $4 million turnover company in only one year with zero marketing.

What was the last thing that made you laugh out loud?
Reading funny books to my six-year-old. I give each character a different voice and my son’s laughter is infectious!

Recently I read one called The Book with No Pictures [by BJ Novak] and you have to read aloud all these funny words.
