GIA to host talk with gemmologist Denis Bellessort

Alumni event sees designer return as he launches his own collection.

Denis Bellessort, a gemmologist with who has had roles at Tiffany, Cartier, Harry Winston and has been a consultant to Moussaieff and director at Chopard, will be part of a GIA alumni evening in London next month.

The event, called From Santa Monica to Bonds of Union – a gemmological trip, will focus on Bellessort’s career and his recent move into creating his own jewellery brand, Bonds of Union.

As a trained gemmologist, Bellessort has used his experience to create a collection focused on the beauty of gemstones, and playing with gemstone attributes such as fluorescence in diamonds to create unusual collections.

Bellessort graduated from the GIA in Santa Monica 30 years ago. Bellessort will also focus on the rewards that his gemmological studies have brought him and the main changes he has witnessed in jewellery retail and in the gems used in jewellery during the last three decades. He will conclude with a couple of his latest discoveries.

The talk will take place on Wednesday September 28th at 7:00pm, at the GIA London Campus. For GIA students and alumni ticket prices are £3, non-member tickets are £5.
