UK jeweller Goldsmiths has announced a new £2,000 wedding jewellery giveaway in response to the news that ceremonies will soon be permitted once again as the government eases Covid restrictions.

The jeweller understands that the public is keen to get back to normal life, part of which is getting married. It cited statistics that claim around 220,000 weddings were put on hold in 2020.

From the end of March, however, six-person weddings will be permitted, with the number of allowed guests rising with each new step of the Prime Minister’s roadmap, until all restrictions end on 21 June.

To mark this return to normality, two winners will take away £1,000 worth of wedding jewellery from a new Goldsmiths competition.

The competition runs until midnight on 19 March, with entrants asked to share an image of themselves or their nominated couple alongside a few details about their disrupted wedding plans.

More details can be found on the Goldsmiths website.

Craig Bolton, executive director of Goldsmiths, commented: “With the challenges of the past year, the UK’s roadmap to easing restrictions is welcome news for us all, but especially for those looking to resume their wedding plans.

“In 2020, the wedding industry in particular suffered huge losses in terms of revenue, meaning couples awaiting their wedding day have also had to make great sacrifices.

“Despite this previous year, our research has certainly highlighted how eager the nation is to celebrate their big day in a luxurious way.

“With this in mind, we wanted to give a little something back to those who’s weddings have been postponed or cancelled.

”We hope this gesture helps put a smile on some couples’ faces.”
