The Goldsmiths' Company is celebrating the success of its second annual Make Your Mark student event, welcoming more than 750 guests to the Goldsmiths' Hall on April 17 and 18. The event included guest lectures by Theo Fennell, Boodles' Michael Wainwright and Monique Daniels and Ivonna Poplanska on behalf of the Goldsmiths' Centre.

The Goldsmiths’ Company has revealed plans to host the UK’s biggest precious metal event for students next year.

Taking place on February 5 2019, London’s Goldsmiths’ Hall will host its annual Make Your Make event yet.

Make Your Mark has proved a huge success since its launch in 2014, and now the event promises to deliver even more inspiration, advice and networking opportunities.


Make Your Mark is a completely free event open to apprentices, and anyone studying on a UK-based precious-metal-related course (full- or part-time) whether at degree level or on a short adult education or private tutored course.

Led by the Goldsmiths’ Company Assay Office and supported by the Goldsmiths’ Company and the Goldsmiths’ Centre, the event will provide a packed programme of inspiring talks from leading figures in the trade, live demos, an exhibition of entries into the new Make You Mark Award, careers advice and more.

Other key elements of the event will include:

• A wide range of trade exhibitors offering advice, guidance and buying opportunities;

• Live demonstrations including diamond cutting and hand engraving;

• A tour of the Goldsmiths’ Company’s renowned library

• Make Your Mark Awards – a design competition which celebrates the London hallmark.

As part of the event, the Goldsmiths’ Company Assay Office is offering all those who attend an exclusive hallmarking package for free. This unrivalled package comprises of a ten-year registration, punch and laser software set-up meaning to enable both methods of hallmarking.

Experts from the Goldsmiths’ Company, Assay Office and Goldsmiths’ Centre will also be on hand to offer friendly advice on hallmarking, internships, grants, and training opportunities.
