The Goldsmiths’ Centre has revealed the six participants in its 2022 ‘Getting Started: Stars in the Making’ initiative.

The programme aims to put a spotlight on several early-career jewellers and debuted earlier in 2021 when Agata Karwowska, Isla Cruickshank, Georgie Orme-Brown, Alice Fry, Kristina Smith, Millicent Bradbury, Ruby Taglight, Sarah Murdoch and Kelda Young became the first cohort of Stars in the Making.

All six Stars in the Making will be taking centre stage in a series of online meet-the-maker events, where they will discuss their practice and inspirations, and will be featured for one week on the Goldsmiths’ Centre’s Instagram channel.

The 2022 participants – Catherine Marche, Deborah Beck, Lisa Mortimer, Genevieve Schwartz, Margo Orlovic and Darren Sherwood – will also receive further business skills training, tailored to their needs, helping them to build their confidence and best present their work in person and online.

Charlotte Dew, public programme manager at the Goldsmiths’ Centre, explained: “We are thrilled to be presenting work by the stars of Getting Started Online 2021 and showcasing their excellence following the programme of training they have participated in.

“Their jewellery demonstrates high quality making and engagement with the demands of the contemporary consumer, interested in exceptional design, sustainability, and flexibility.

“We look forward to building on this initiative through the recruitment of the cohort of makers taking part in Getting Started Online 2022.”
