Hallmarking up 5% in a positive April

Hallmarking figures compiled by Assay Office Birmingham for April 2019 show a positive month, citing an overall increase of  4.5% in the total number of items assayed compared with the same period in 2018.

A total of 695,598 pieces were handled by the Assay Offices during the month.

Gold, silver and platinum all saw in increase in the total number of items hallmarked in April, reporting 6.6% rise for gold, 3.3% for silver and 11.7% for platinum. Palladium was the only metal to suffer a decrease, with a dip of 62.4% overall.
