Hallmarking up in November as silver soars

Hallmarking figures compiled by Assay Office Birmingham for October 2018 show a lift in the number of items hallmarked.

In total, November saw a 1.8% increase in the total number of items assayed compared to the same period in 2017, with a total of 1,083,483 pieces being handled in the month.

Silver and platinum posted growth of 6.4% and 2.3% respectively, while hallmarking for gold dipped by 2.8% and palladium decreased by 39.9%.
