The HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show and its sister event, HKTDC Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show, have announced brand new dates as the global pandemic continues to impact plans for large scale events.
The show, originally scheduled for March and then pushed back to May, will now take place August 3-6 2020.
With the announcement of the new date, show organisers have also revealed plans to protect exhibitions and visitors, to ensure the safety of all that attend.
Visitors to the show, which will take place at the AsiaWorld-Expo, will have to enter through an installation that checks their temperature and sanitizes clothes and carried items.
The CEO of AsiaWorld-Expo Management says staff uniforms and surfaces at the conference centre will be sterilised using a light-based coating, which can prevent the growth of microbes for up to 12 months.
The air will also be purified and the venue disinfected with a wide-spectrum liquid sanitiser that kills both viruses and bacteria.
“The safety of exhibitors and buyers has always been a priority for the Hong Kong Trade Development Council,” affirms show organisers in a statement.
While exhibitors and buyers have not been able to get together in person, HKTDC launched a month-long ‘Spring Virtual Expo’ on April 1.
This enables global suppliers to maintain and establish contact with buyers during the traditional peak sourcing season.
HKTDC explains: “It is hoped that the online promotion together with the physical exhibitions in August can complement each other and maximise synergy.”
