Deborah Jarrett & Natacha Schneider, jewellery buying controller & buyer, H Samuel - Signet.

It’s safe to say that both Deborah and Natacha have the buying buzz, with Deborah musing: “Every test line that works is a moment of excitement and success; it’s what makes the buying process a great experience, always learning and gaining knowledge.”

H Samuel has increased its diamond product mix and breadth of choice in the last 12 months, with the strategy going hand-in-hand with the company’s global plan to be the best in bridal in the mid-market. Deborah adds: “Looking for opportunities and fi nding the success in product styles, price points, display, branding and how we sell, all goes together to build on this vision.”

For Natacha the last 12 months have been all about beads, with H Samuel’s brand Chamilia having its best Christmas to date in 2014. She says: “Beads are still a big trend and this has enabled us to help the company maximise the midmarket, which is one of our key objectives.” S

he continues: “We are constantly looking at new ways to bring the customer in, with new fashion brands which have been successful such as Mikey and Buckley, but also by increasing newness coming in to existing brands.”

Working around jewellery and talking about jewellery is Deborah’s forte, with friends and family questioning her on the latest trends, precious heirlooms and engagement rings. It’s the same for Natacha, who says: “I’m constantly looking at what people are wearing, where they got it from and why they bought particular pieces. This sometimes helps me make decisions on what product to bring into the business.”

Both ladies have affection for London, with Deborah enjoying a contemplative gaze at the skyline across the river, and Natacha finding her home in the capital after growing up in France. She notes: “This was supposed to be my first stop, but I fell in love with this city and the diversity, and found my life here.”
