Oliver Crouch and Peter Mooney, sales manager and general manager, Continental Jewellery UK

We all knew that Peter Mooney and Oliver Crouch made a dedicated and determined team, but little did we realise just how unstoppable they could be.

Last October, Peter suffered a stroke, and though he thankfully survived the ordeal, he was left with speech impairment and a significant recovery time ahead.

“It has been a challenging time in both my personal and business life,” he reflects, “and I would like to thank my customers, friends and the whole Continental team for supporting me – especially Oliver, who has kept the business running in my absence.”

Stepping in to steer Continental Jewellery at a very traumatic time for him and the team, Oliver maintained strong leadership to boost the number of new accounts in the independent market by a huge 70%, despite tough business conditions.

“With the dedication and hard work of the team, the business has continued to grow,” he says. “We were also able to launch the ‘Continental Collection’ and a successful new bridal range, which has seen strong sales in 2016.”

New bridal pieces are set to be revealed over the coming 12 months, along with nine and 18 carat designs in the company’s popular core ranges and aspirational collections of fancy diamond necklets and bracelets.

Undoubtedly the best news of 2016, however, is that Peter has now been able to return to work full time, following a clean bill of health. “I am more enthusiastic than ever to drive the business forward,” he insists.
