The sculptural jeweller on how the Hot 100 helped her open new doors.

In a series of Q&As with the Professional Jeweller Hot 100 2013 NexGems, we find out what came next for this savvy set of designers since they were chosen as ones to watch in our annual jewellery industry celebration. Becky Dockree, creator of beautifully etched and textured jewellery with a sculptural edge, talks new collections and the positives that followed her appearance in the Hot 100 2013.

Professional Jeweller: You were selected as a Professional Jeweller Hot 100 NexGem – what did this mean for your business?
Becky Dockree: I was very flattered to be chosen as one of the Hot 100 2013. As an independent designer it’s very rewarding to know that others appreciate what you’re doing, and it’s been a great stepping-stone for my brand.

PJ: Tell us about the time since you were given the Hot 100 accolade – how has business developed?
BD: I have been given the confidence in my brand to push open doors, so it’s been a time for building new relationships with stockists and customers and maintaining existing ones.

PJ: Any exciting projects in the pipeline or new collections?
BD: I’m currently working on a new collection, taking influence from my etched designs to create 3D forms. It’s very much in its infancy stage, but this is a very exciting time and I can’t wait to showcase the finished pieces.
