John Pass Jewellers has taken team spirit to another level through a clear business strategy, better communication and even more investment in the personal development of individuals – and it’s paying dividends for the third generation Staffordshire jeweller.
Consistent like-for-like sales growth at both its Crewe and Newcastle-under-Lyme stores has cemented the company’s status as one of the region’s most successful jewellery retailers, while providing it with the financial foundations to go from strength to strength. As the only Pandora stockist in Crewe and an Omega shop offering an extensive ranges of respected watches, the company has become a go-to name from some of the industry’s biggest brands.
Asked what factors are key to its business achievements, company director, Andrew Pass, cites the smaller changes as the things that have made the most difference: “For example, simply for fun, we ran ‘The Great John Pass Bake Off’ among the team concurrently to the airing of the TV series. The spin off was, once again, a happier team, great cakes every week, and interestingly, the biggest increase in our social media following to date!”
Teamwork is a constant theme for Andrew and he makes no secret of the fact that a content, empowered and motivated workforce ultimately leads to positive results. Greater levels of interaction between staff at both stores have also worked in the company’s favour.
“We are working as one unified team across both stores, communicating effectively and helping and supporting each other,” explains Andrew, who is photographed in one of his favourite locations in North Wales. “This means that things can change faster, more efficiently and that our strategic plan, headed up by the senior team, will be delivered through the whole team understanding our ambitions and goals. We are also ready to respond quicker to the ever-changing world of modern retail.” You wouldn’t doubt it for a second.
