Carry said: “It is an honour to be appointed as a board member for the best and longest establishing jewellery organisation in the UK. It is an exciting time for Houlden Group and I am looking forward to getting started with my new role.”

The new directors were sworn in at Houlden’s AGM last week. At the AGM existing founding director Stuart Laing paid tribute to the late Rudell and to the retiring Lunn, describing the year as a bittersweet one for the group.

Laing said: “We’ve had a bittersweet 2011 so far at the Houlden Group as we’ve lost a founding member and dear friend in Tony Rudell but we’ve also had some great achievements. Key highlights include our Designs of Excellence Collection initiative, a TAG Heuer exclusive watch for members, several new members coming on board and continued recruitment of the best suppliers in the industry. The remainder of the year is set to be just as successful with a collaboration lined up with International Jewellery London, more exclusive products from the big brands for Houlden members through our thriving Supplier Ambassador Programme and the rest of the Designs of Excellence Collection tour to name just a few.”
