Chief executive John Nichols turns to 185 UK stores to raise funds.
H&T Pawnbrokers have collected £5,500 for cancer care organisation Macmillan after its 185 UK stores took part in the World’s Biggest Macmillan Coffee Morning.
John Nichols, chief executive officer of H&T Pawnbrokers, said: “Macmillan’s goal is to ensure nobody has to face cancer alone. We support this and wanted to do everything possible to raise funds for this charity which helps so many people. So we pledged to raise £5,000 to help this charity – a target which we are delighted to have exceeded.
"The funds our staff and customers raised could pay for both a Macmillan nurse and a physiotherapist for a month as well as run a Macmillan information centre for a day. We’re pleased to have contributed towards providing medical, practical, emotional and financial support for patients and families hit by cancer.”
H&T staff at the company’s pawnbroking and secondhand jewellery stores baked, bought and shared tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits across the UK at more than 20 simultaneous coffee mornings in Scotland, 45 in the north of England, almost 20 in the Midlands and more than 100 in Greater London and the south of England.
Lynn Hyder, regional corporate business manager at Macmillan, said: “H&T were committed and enthusiastic in their fundraising endeavours, and we’re very grateful for the funds they have raised.
"Every pound helps us to be there for someone with cancer when they need us most – from the moment they’re diagnosed, through their treatment and beyond.”
