IJL presents Pavilion picks for 2014


Areas dedicated to Portugal, Ireland and Hong Kong to draw crowds.

International Jewellery London (IJL) is continuing to secure brands from around the world that will present their wares at the Olympia showcase in August 2014.

This year’s Design Gallery will feature Icelandic brand Aurum Jewellery, which plans to launch 12 collections at IJL in 2014. In addition, Pavillion spaces will be dedicated to Portugal, Ireland and Hong Kong, showcasing wares by distinctive and traditional designers from these varied cultural backgrounds.

The dedicated show-space for Portugal will include Gabriela Styliano Jewellery, Rainbow Jewellery, Mimata, Sara Maia Jewelry Craft and Joana Mota Capitão from the AORP group.

A spokesperson for the Group stated: "One of our goals at AORP is the international promotion of Portuguese jewellery and we see IJL as a great opportunity to develop partnerships and commercial relations between the Portuguese and British markets. The Portuguese Jewellery stand at IJL will showcase the touch of tradition that complements a modern show.”

Five designers from Ireland will be showcasing their collections in the Ireland Cork Pavilion, including Azure Jewellery and Hanna Tommola Jewellery.

Ireland Cork Pavilion manager Méabh Ring, explains: “Debuting at IJL 2014, The Ireland Cork Pavilion will celebrate the best in Irish jewellery design, innovation and skill. These five designers will showcase their collections to international buyers and meet with key UK jewellery buyers. Elegant pearls, structural silvers, fashion accessories and contemporary jewellery styles will be exhibited at this new Pavilion. As our closest neighbour and largest trading partner, IJL is a natural first port of call for Irish jewellery businesses.”

The Hong Kong Jewelry Manufacturers’ Association will showcase 19 fine jewellery companies at IJL 2014. The most popular product category is gem-set jewellery, particularly diamonds set in 14ct or 18ct yellow or white gold.

Mr. Wings Cheung, general manager of the Hong Kong Jewelry Manufacturers’ Association, commented: “With the continuous growth of GDP figures for the fifth consecutive period (0.8% by first quarter of 2014) we believe the strong buying momentum will lead to a fruitful year for IJL.”

IJL plans to revitalise its annual free seminar programme, with high profile speakers including Jo Fairley, the co-founder of Green & Black’s.

Alongside the first-ever late night shopping evening with a special charity auction in aid of Breast Cancer Care, the event will feature a red carpet catwalk show, a champagne bar, an English tea room and a specially-built restaurant on the ground floor.
