Independent jeweller engages customers with Black Friday offer and social media content

Liverpool-based Wongs Jewellers is using Black Friday as a platform to thank its loyal customers and engage with them online.

Rather than staying away from the discounting weekend, Wongs Jewellers is getting involved with its biggest offer yet.

This week, the family-run retailer is offering customers a complimentary £250 Wongs voucher for every £1,000 spent in store.

By doing this the jeweller is able to thank its customers, old and new, and provide an extra opportunity for them to pop back into store and build a relationship.

To share the news with its customers and online followers, the team created a playful video which has been shared on social media and placed on the homepage of its e-tail site.

Known in the city and by members of the trade as a fun and friendly team, the video captures the company’s personality, with the entire team playing a starring role.

It also gives viewers a glimpse of its company’s in-store workshop, which plays a central role in the business.

“It was important to us that the promotion was very much a thank you to our customers,” shares Wongs Jewellers business manager, Cynthia Cartwright. “We wanted to create a video that our customers would really love and create engagement. The video captures some of the key elements in store like the workshop and of course, starring our amazing team.”

“We’re very optimistic for a successful week,” the business manager adds.

As Black Friday has a larger impact online than in-store, this is an innovative way of capturing the attention of shoppers before the lucrative Christmas trading season.

The video has already racked up 6.5K views on Facebook, with many customers liking and commenting on the post.

Cartwright reveals: “One of our customers said, “I really like the John Lewis ad but I love this! Liverpool’s answer to John Lewis!”
