Third generation business owner, Adam Jacobs of Jacobs the Jewellers, claims success in retail boils down to staff, customers, and business.
If you get these three things right then, Jacobs says, companies have a strong chance of survival on the high street, even during difficult times.
And Jacobs can say that in confidence because his family firm, Jacobs the Jewellers, is testament to that having successfully traded in Reading for over 70 years.
Alongside the ‘holy trinity’ of retail, Jacobs the Jewellers is deeply rooted within its local community — something which sets the company apart from its competitors and contributes to its success.
Supporting the community and developing Reading as a place to live, work, and explore, is embedded in the fabrics of Jacobs the Jewellers, which not only raises money for local charities and sponsors events, but also gives up time to volunteer and take part in local projects.
Store owner, Adam Jacobs, leads by example as chairman of the Reading UK CIC – an organisation which exists to boost business and enhance the visitor experience in the local area. The company also encourages staff to get stuck in with local initiatives, with all of the personalities inside the store having a presence outside.
Last year, as part of its ‘Seventy for Seventy’ campaign, the firm smashed its target and presented Royal Berks Charity with a cheque for £93,588.
