The sibling duo at the helm of Drakes Jewellers are doing an excellent job at making sure the family business continues to thrive in Plymouth.
Their passion and enthusiasm is contagious and as they run the day to day business, alongside their father, John Hirshman, and the first company director from outside the family, Jennifer Manning, they inspire all who work for Drakes to sparkle.
And it is easy to stay motivated as staff when the directors are leading by example, not just from the top, but from the shop floor as well.
This year marks the company’s 70th anniversary and it is clear that nothing, not even a pandemic, will stop the firm shining bright.
Kickstarting the year with the annual Drakes Diamond Gala, the jewellery retailer welcomed over 300 guests to a carnival-themed extravaganza and raised £24,000 for local charity, St Luke’s Hospice.
It is little wonder so many attended to support the independent jewellery retailer, as Drakes is a business which goes above and beyond for its local community – regularly raising money for charity, supporting the local business scene and getting involved in local initiatives.
Drakes also keeps the city engaged with its business through innovative window displays, creative customer events and not-to-be-missed competitions.
As the family-run business says on its website, ‘time flies when you are having fun’, and that’s certainly what these two directors are doing!
