Jacobs the Jewellers has launched the third year of its Reading-based young designers competition in association with the Bishopsland Educational Trust and the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths.
Following the success of the last two years, the Bishopsland Educational Trust, a jewellery design postgraduate course provider based in South Oxfordshire, has launched this year’s public competition and exhibition for its students.
Staged at Jacobs the Jewellers’, an exhibition will feature work from the shortlisted 10 emerging designers
Adam Jacobs, partner at Jacobs the Jewellers, comments: “After two years, we feel this year will be the best exhibition and competition yet. With 10 young artists participating, we know the standard will be high and we’re so happy to be able to work with all our partners on such a great event.”
Competitors will exhibit one new work of silver and one new piece of jewellery. The public will be able to vote for their favourite designs.
Oliver Makower, the vice principal of Bishopsland Educational Trust, adds: “This is a wonderful opportunity for our emerging silversmiths and jewellers. Displaying and demonstrating their work at Jacobs and having the public vote is a great confidence boost for them.”
This competition is made possible by Jacobs the Jewellers with the support of the Goldsmiths’ Company, one of the Twelve Great Livery Companies of the City of London.
The event will run from June 6-30 with the announcement of winners at Jacobs at 3pm on the last day.
