Heresy Jewellery Design launches trade arm in ‘underserved area’.

Heresy Jewellery Design is planning to offer gemmology and design services to jewellers in the Southwest, an area of the country that founder Matthew Morrell feels is underserved.

The company, which was founded in Bristol in May, will offer local jewellers CAD services, gemstone sourcing and advice, antique jewellery sourcing, marketing consultancy and ethical business practices consulting.

Morrell is a gemmologist who has worked in Antwerp but has also spent time working in PR and believes that he can use his experience to plug a jewellery services gap for companies in the Southwest.

He said: "My time in Antwerp and previous experience in public relations and corporate social responsibility consulting have allowed me to build relationships that – together with those in Hatton Garden, the Jewellery Quarter and further afield – will help us deliver on this offer, adding further unique services next year.”

CAD services will be the main thrust of the company, with the additional sourcing and advice services tacked on to bolster its service to the trade.

Morrell said: “The offer builds on our experience that CAD helps close sales on commissions faster – an area that seems to make some jewellers quite nervous; but where demand is growing as clients increasingly look for custom made, unique, one-of-a-kind items."
