The company raised £200,000 through crowdfunding – beating its target of £100,000 – after asking members of the public and jewellery industry to pledge £250 or more to secure a share of JewelStreet to help it realise its growth plans.

JewelStreet, which today showcases more than 10,000 pieces of jewellery online, has announced the creation of five new roles: sales manager, PR manager, search marketing manager and two PHP developer positions, seeking fresh talent from both within or outside of the jewellery industry to help it realise its potential. The company has also recently hired a marketing executive and a senior graphics designer.

The Devon-based business has also announced the creation of its Jewellery Lover’s Awards, which is calling on consumers to vote for their favourite jewellery designers and brands. JewelStreet co-director Rob Passmore said of the awards: “There are some fantastic industry jewellery awards but we felt that most of them are voted for by key industry figures. We wanted to launch an award that let jewellery lover’s really have their say and vote for their favourite designers and jewellery brands. People feel very passionately about their jewellery and the people that design and make it and we want them to have a chance to pass this message on.”

The awards’ voting kicked off on June 11, with categories including silver design, fine jewellery design, men’s design, best newcomer and an overall winner award for the designer that receives the most votes overall.

The Senior PHP Developer role is a core member of JewelStreet’s IT & Ops team with responsibility ensuring that the e-commerce website and other backoffice systems run smoothly and effectively. They will be required to develop the site using Magento to improve sales in line with current usability best practice, and ensure that this integrates with the finance and order fulfillment systems. They will be required conduct competitor analysis and keyword research, advising of best practice and developing SEO strategy both on and off page for the business. They will be very hands-on, with regards to the implementation of SEO strategy, working with the extensive in-house development team.

JewelStreet is currently seeking a dynamic PR Manager to liaise with the press, answering their enquiries and constantly seeking to cultivate good relationships with key journalists. The candidate will also aim to increase the level of editorials written about the brand and pitch ideas and story concepts to the press. Similarly, the candidate will be expected to maximise product placement in online and offline media throughout the seasons, proactively seeking ways to sustain high levels of media coverage. You will be responsible for all press releases and seasonal look books.
