Buyers Power List will be announced at this summer’s trade event.
Jewellery & Watch London (J&WL) has announced plans to find the UK’s most influential jewellery buyers with the creation of its inaugural Buyers Power List.
The summer trade show is welcoming entries from across the UK jewellery trade, in a bid to recognise, celebrate and reward those individuals and companies that suppliers and peers in the jewellery industry believe have made "an outstanding difference and being highly influential in the jewellery and watch market".
To kick things off, J&WL is asking the industry to help it compile a shortlist of buyers through a nominations process. Initial nominations can be made in up to five different categories which comprise independent jewellery or watch retailer, multiple retailer and chain stores, individual person, department store and museum or gallery.
Thereafter, J&WL will compile a shortlist based on those individuals and companies with the highest number of nominations. These individuals and companies will then be contacted and asked to rank their favourite five peers on the list in order of preference.
This peer voting system will then be used to rank the final list in order, giving a comprehensive list of the most influential buyers in the industry, as voted for by the industry.
The final list, including the unveiling of the 10 buyers considered the most influential in the industry, will be revealed during a champagne reception on June 16 at 6pm, after the first day of Jewellery & Watch London at the Saatchi Gallery in London.
The shortlist, finalists and top 10 winners will also be featured J&WL’s website and will be presented in the show’s event guide.
Jewellery & Watch London portfolio director Julie Driscoll said: “We are extremely excited to launch our inaugural Buyers Power List in conjunction with the forthcoming Jewellery & Watch London.
"There are some fantastic businesses and personalities in the jewellery sector who work tirelessly to ensure that they source the most exciting and interesting product for their customers and at Jewellery & Watch London we want to make sure they are recognised."
The initial round of voting for the Buyers Power List is open until Friday May 9 2014.
