A new networking initiative named London Jewellery Meetup is set to launch next month inviting London-based jewellery designers, brands and businesses to meet, network, share experiences and advice.
The first meeting is set to take place at the Sir Christopher Hatton on Leather Lane in Hatton Garden on Tuesday May 14.
Shaun Leane will be the guest speaker at the event, sharing his experiences around the theme of Workshop to Worldwide. There will also be an opportunity for attendees to meet Leane and pose their questions to him on the night.
Shaun Leane said of the initiative: "I was excited to hear about the London Jewellery Meetup and am honoured to be a part of it. With the right support and encouragement, there is great potential for even more of our talented British jewellers to succeed at home and abroad."
The new monthly London Jewellery Meetup was formed out of the realisation that there are too many start-up businesses and brands that don’t have anywhere to go for advice and support. Through networking and sharing with other members, this support can be provided, and can hopefully lead to the development and growth of these businesses now and in the future.
Each monthly meet will feature a topic and special guest speaker. The events have been organised by IBB London and the London Jewellery School, with support from Professional Jeweller.
Joshua Kovacs of IBB London and Jessica Rose, founder of the London Jewellery School, said they hope to create a long-term self-sufficient event that can be accessed and utilised by everyone involved in the jewellery industry.
Rose said: "It is often easy to forget that there is a whole community of jewellers out there that have done or are doing similar businesses to you, by offering a neutral platform to meet, learn from and engage with others we hope to help build a more collaborative industry with a sustainable future that we can all benefit from."
