Taking the reins at the CMJ, the UK and Ireland’s largest jewellery buying group, probably wasn’t quite the experience Emmet Cummins had imagined it to be when he finally got the chance last April amid the pandemic. Nevertheless, the MD’s transition has been smooth.
“He immediately focused on a strategy to ensure the group continued to support its members,” says the organisation’s Frances Hopes. “We believe that the CMJ really demonstrated its value when members needed it most.”
The CMJ continued its member support and education programme, introducing virtual networking events and webinars as in-person meetings became impossible.
Even more impressively, understanding the tough situation members found themselves in, it made the decision to suspend all membership fees for several months of the last year, also bringing forward retrospective rebate payments.
Emmet then unveiled the CMJ’s five-year strategy in November, with the organisation refusing to rest on its laurels during the pandemic.
