Jewellers given chance to have design created with £20k of diamonds.
Mastercut is launching a jewellery design competition that will give jewellers the chance to have their design created by the jewellery brand, using £20,000-worth of its diamonds.
The winning piece will be shown at London Jewellery Week in June and the designer will also be given a free stand at the CMJ summer trade event in Birmingham in August.
The brief asks individual designers – who can be professionals or amateurs – to submit a design for an original piece of jewellery that has not already been produced commercially or shown anywhere else. Diamonds must be central to the design with the submitted drawing incorporating 20 Mastercut diamonds between 15pts and 50pts in size and set in 18ct white, yellow or rose gold.
Submitted designs will be judged by legendary diamantaire Jean-Paul Tolkowsky, who will be scoring entries on originality, wearability, the creative use of Mastercut diamonds and technical skill.
The winning design, which will be dubbed the Mastercut Diamond Jubilee piece, will be produced by Mastercut and put on display during London Jewellery Week, at the CMJ business conference in June and the CMJ summer trade event in August.
