French diamond brand also hopes to up independent partners at Basel.

Paris-based diamond jewellery brand Messika is set to open a concession space in Harrods, as the brand begins a wider UK push.

The brand will enter the store on Friday and will sit opposite Theo Fennell in the Knightsbridge department store. It described the opening as "a huge development".


Messika is now set to increase its presence in the UK and hopes to sign up a further 10 independent retailers through BaselWorld, adding to its current five UK partners which include Beards, Frost of London and Paul Sheeran.

A statement from the brand said: "From March Messika Jewellery will be partnering with the Chelsea counter in the fine jewellery room within Harrods. Messika will be amongst the most luxurious and prestigious Brands Harrods have to offer. This is a new milestone which will strengthen our image and support our development."

The brand will appear at BaselWorld next month and is on the cusp of opening a standalone boutique in Paris. Presently Messika has more than 180 retail partners in 30 countries.
