The National Association of Jewellers’ (NAJ) is offering free HR and health and safety advice in the form of one-to-one reviews for every member business.
This comes after the NAJ reported a strong increase in calls to its ‘Better Business Support Service’ pertaining to HR and health and safety in the jewellery industry.
It said of the service: “The Better Business Support Service ensures businesses stay compliant in all matters relating to health and safety, human resources, legal and tax with advice lines and downloadable resources including templates available.”
Common questions members had related to redundancies, flexible furlough schemes, staying Covid-19 secure, up-to-date employee handbooks and avoiding employment tribunals.
With phone inquiries and downloads of its templates on the rise, the NAJ decided to offer members the chance to book one-to-one reviews to discuss these issues.
Scott Williams, NAJ head of membership, said: “In a world turned upside down by Coronavirus there is uncertainty in the jewellery industry like many others, and this has been noted with a marked increase in calls to the Better Business Support Service hotline.
“The one-to-one review allows an expert, based outside of your business, to look purely at the facts because sometimes when you’re looking into an issue, there seems to be multiple options and it is hard to know which one to take.
“The review can provide members with the guidance and support required, but also the assurance they’ve been advised via their trade association’s membership service.”
Recommendations may fall within the free resources available to you, but additional services are charged, albeit it at reduced NAJ member rate, the association said.
