Exciting Midlands talent will be showcased at BSW selling exhibition.

The National Lottery has awarded £5,000 to the Birmingham Assay Office to assist with its launch event for British Silver Week.

The event, which is taking place on 7 June at St. Pauls Gallery, near the Birmingham Assay Office, marks the beginning of a 10-day celebration of contemporary British silversmiths. The week is being supported by the Arts Council England.

A number of exciting Midlands talents will be showcased at the selling exhibition, consisting of names such as Theresa Nguyen, Andrew Macgowan and Ryan McClean. Mark Andrew Powell from Scotland and Mana Sarabhai Brearley from London will also be featured. The exhibition will be shown against a backdrop of music art and sculptures, providing a fusion of two and three dimensional art media. Members of the public will be able to view and buy pieces from featured designers.

Birmingham Assay Office marketing manager Penny Parkes said: “It’s a really good boost to the Birmingham silversmiths that they want to put their money where their mouth is and support British artists. It is very exciting.”

Sponsors of the launch event include The Birmingham Assay Office, St Paul’s Gallery, The PMC Studio, Sutton Tools and D-Zine Furniture Hire.
